Maple Medical’s September Special: What to Expect at Your Consultation

regenerative medicine & pain doctor for Lake Oswego & greater portland

If you have been dealing with an ongoing joint, tendon, or other musculoskeletal concern, deciding what to do next can feel complicated. You may already have imaging, have tried physical therapy or another treatment, or simply want a clearer understanding of why a problem continues to interfere with work, exercise, sports, or everyday activities.

September may be a good time to start that conversation. Maple Medical’s September Special includes 10% off treatment plans scheduled in September, plus special September pricing on Shockwave and EMTT packages.

At Maple Medical, a consultation is not about automatically choosing a procedure. We start by understanding your condition, what you have already tried, how your symptoms affect your life, and what you hope to get back to doing. From there, we can discuss which next steps, if any, may be appropriate.

What Happens During a Consultation at Maple Medical?

At our Lake Oswego practice, the evaluation starts with your individual situation rather than a predetermined treatment.

We want to understand what you are experiencing and how it affects your day-to-day life. That conversation may include:

  • Where your symptoms occur
  • How long they have been present
  • Activities that make them better or worse
  • Previous injuries or procedures
  • Treatments you have already tried
  • Your current activity level
  • Work, exercise, sports, or recreational demands
  • What you hope to return to doing

These details matter because the same diagnosis can affect two people differently. One person may want to return to running or hiking, while another may be focused on moving more comfortably at work or during everyday activities.

When relevant, we can also review existing MRI, X-ray, or CT imaging as part of the evaluation. Whether additional diagnostic information is needed depends on your condition and clinical findings.

Our goal is to bring your symptoms, examination findings, previous care, available imaging, activity demands, and personal goals together so we can develop an individualized treatment plan based on what the evaluation shows.

Why We Do Not Start With a Predetermined Procedure

It is easy to hear about PRP, Cell Therapy, Shockwave, or another treatment and arrive at a consultation wondering whether that specific procedure is the answer.

At Maple Medical, we approach the process in the opposite direction: understand the condition first, then consider which treatment options may fit.

Our recommendations may depend on the tissue or structure involved, how long symptoms have been present, examination findings, previous treatments, available imaging, medical history, activity demands, and personal goals.

For some patients, a biologic or minimally invasive treatment may be worth discussing. For others, rehabilitation, activity modification, coordinated care, further evaluation, or another pathway may make more sense. Our treatments overview reflects this broader approach rather than centering care on one procedure.

Choosing non-surgical musculoskeletal care does not mean every concern should be treated with the same non-surgical procedure. The appropriate plan depends on what we find during the evaluation.

When Diagnostic Ultrasound May Be Helpful

Diagnostic ultrasound may be used when it can provide useful information about a musculoskeletal concern.

Depending on the area being evaluated, ultrasound can allow us to look at certain tendons, muscles, ligaments, joints, and other soft tissues in real time. In some situations, structures can also be assessed during movement, providing information that may complement the physical examination or existing imaging.

Not every patient needs diagnostic ultrasound. We use it when it is appropriate for the condition being evaluated and when it can provide clinically useful information.

When an image-guided procedure is appropriate, ultrasound may also be used to visualize the treatment area and guide selected procedures. Using ultrasound during an evaluation does not mean an ultrasound-guided treatment will automatically be recommended.

The purpose of imaging is to support clinical decision-making, not to lead every patient toward a procedure.

What Treatment Options Might We Discuss?

Depending on the evaluation, we may discuss one or more treatment approaches. We consider these options according to your diagnosis, clinical findings, history, and goals rather than offering the same treatment pathway to every patient.

PRP Therapy

For selected musculoskeletal conditions, PRP therapy may be considered based on the diagnosis, tissue involved, previous care, clinical findings, and activity goals.

PRP uses a preparation derived from the patient’s own blood. It is not automatically appropriate simply because symptoms have been present for a long time. Whether it belongs in your treatment discussion depends on the individual condition being evaluated.

Cell Therapy: MFAT & BMAC

For selected patients, Cell Therapy using MFAT and BMAC may also be considered when the condition and clinical findings support discussing a cell-based treatment.

Persistent symptoms or an abnormal imaging result alone do not determine whether MFAT or BMAC is appropriate. We consider your diagnosis, medical history, previous care, examination findings, activity demands, goals, and other relevant factors before recommending a treatment pathway.

Shockwave Therapy and EMTT

Focused and radial Shockwave Therapy and EMTT are additional non-surgical options available at Maple Medical for appropriately selected conditions.

Shockwave may be considered for certain tendon and other musculoskeletal concerns, while EMTT is another energy-based therapy that may be incorporated into an individualized plan when appropriate. Our EMTT and Shockwave Therapy services are part of the broader range of non-surgical options we consider according to each patient’s needs.

During September, we are also offering special September pricing on Shockwave and EMTT packages.

Minimally Invasive Procedures

For certain conditions that have not responded as expected to more conservative care, we may also discuss minimally invasive procedural options.

Tenex and TenJet may be considered for selected persistent tendon conditions, while Sonex may be an option for appropriate patients with carpal tunnel concerns.

These procedures have specific indications. Having tendon pain or carpal tunnel symptoms does not automatically make someone a candidate. We still begin by understanding the diagnosis and individual clinical situation before deciding whether a procedure should be considered.

Rehabilitation and Activity Guidance May Also Be Part of Your Plan

Not every treatment plan needs to center on an injection, energy-based therapy, or minimally invasive procedure.

When appropriate, we may coordinate physical therapy with an outside therapist or with a therapist you already see. Activity modification, progressive return-to-movement guidance, follow-up care, and maintenance planning may also be part of your overall care.

This is why we want to understand what you are trying to get back to doing. An imaging finding is only one piece of the picture. How the condition affects your function, lifestyle, work, exercise, and personal goals can also help shape the plan.

Who Might Consider Scheduling a Consultation?

A consultation may be useful for people in Lake Oswego and the surrounding area who have an ongoing musculoskeletal concern and want to better understand their condition and available options.

You might consider an evaluation if you:

  • Have persistent joint or tendon symptoms
  • Have already tried rehabilitation or another treatment but still have concerns
  • Have MRI, X-ray, or CT results you would like reviewed in the context of your symptoms
  • Are trying to return to exercise, sports, work, or recreational activities
  • Want to understand available non-surgical treatment options
  • Have heard about PRP, MFAT, BMAC, Shockwave, EMTT, or another treatment but are unsure whether it applies to you
  • Want help determining what the next step should be

Scheduling a consultation does not mean you are committing to regenerative treatment. In some cases, the most useful result of the visit may be a clearer understanding of the condition, rehabilitation guidance, coordinated care, or a treatment direction different from the one you initially expected.

Maple Medical’s September Special

If an ongoing joint, tendon, or musculoskeletal concern has been interfering with activities that matter to you, September offers an opportunity to have the problem evaluated and better understand your options.

Our September Special includes:

  • 10% off treatment plans scheduled in September
  • Special September pricing on Shockwave and EMTT packages

Contact our team to learn more about the offer and September package pricing.

The first step remains an individualized evaluation. Depending on your diagnosis, symptoms, history, examination findings, previous care, activity demands, and goals, we may discuss PRP, Cell Therapy with MFAT or BMAC, Shockwave, EMTT, a minimally invasive procedure, coordinated rehabilitation, activity guidance, or another approach.

Not every treatment is appropriate for every patient, and scheduling a consultation does not commit you to a particular regenerative or procedural treatment.

If you are interested in better understanding your options, schedule a consultation with Maple Medical in Lake Oswego. We can evaluate your musculoskeletal concerns, discuss which options may be appropriate for your situation, and answer your questions about the current September Special.

I have used Dr. Blatz several times since 2021 for knee, SI joint, and most recently for tears in my shoulder. I have had PRP with stem cell injections, shock wave and EMTT therapy. I live in SW Washington yet the drive to Lake Oswego is not a problem for me since I have full trust in Dr. Blatz's work. The team at Maple Medical is excellent in my opinion. Cole is responsive to every message- Annee is superb at shockwave therapy focusing on patient comfort yet accomplishing goals specific to therapy needs. Lexi also put me at ease with my procedure and works seamlessly with Dr. Blatz. I consider Dr. Blatz to be an important part of my medical care team along with his staff. In conversations with other people, I have heard various results about experiences in offices that would be closer to my area that provide these services. It has been my experience that Dr. Blatz spends the time with you to answer your questions even throughout the procedure! His knowledge of PRP and his love of his work is evident. I have had excellent results from Dr. Blatz and his team and will continue to use them if the need arises.

I had a stem cell procedure done by Dr. Blatz on one of my knees. Long story short, I had a long history of degenerative issues. I had done lots of PT, am too young for certain other interventions, but it still continued to worsen. After the procedure done by Dr. Blatz, I was able to do simple things like sit and stand and walk on stairs with no pain in my knee (this was after having nearly 10 years of pain). Not only that, but he knew my goals of keeping up certain activities and I progressed back into those activities as he said I would. Having Dr. Blatz do that procedure was 100% the best decision. He and his staff also closely monitored my recovery and rehab. Also, at this point, I think I have interacted with everyone at his office. They are all great. His office is very responsive. He fit me in same day recently on very short notice for an unrelated new injury, and he got the MRI I needed very quickly and the appropriate referrals that I needed. Also, the shockwave treatment they do was great at reducing pain levels for me during recovery.
