Dr. Brice Blatz is a double board-certified physician in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine with more than a decade of experience in non-surgical pain relief, regenerative medicine, and musculoskeletal care. He serves as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Sports Medicine at Stanford University, where he helps train the next generation of physicians in advanced ultrasound, orthobiologics, and image-guided treatment techniques.
As President of the American Society for Medical Shockwave Treatment and core faculty for The Orthobiologic Institute, Dr. Blatz is recognized as a leader in regenerative and energy-based therapies, including focused and radial shockwave, PRP, stem cell treatments, and ultrasound-guided procedures.
Inspired by a long-held dream to bring personalized, innovative care to Lake Oswego, he founded Maple Medical as a boutique medical experience where advanced medicine, compassion, and patient empowerment come together to address pain, restore function, and support lasting wellness.

Dr. Blatz does not perform surgery but has extensive knowledge of the orthopedic surgery field, as his father was an orthopedic surgeon. During the seven years they practiced together, Drs. Douglas and Brice Blatz revolutionized the integration of orthopedic and regenerative medicine to aid in patient recovery. Although Dr. Douglas Blatz has since retired, Dr. Brice Blatz continues the legacy of identifying when biologic treatments can serve as an alternative to surgical options.
We have relationships with therapists throughout Portland and the surrounding areas who are very familiar with the treatments we provide and the optimal ways to maximize the healing process. We are glad to provide these contacts, who may be part of your regenerative medicine package, through Maple Medical. We will also work with your own therapist utilizing best-practice protocols for a successful outcome.
If you can think of a joint complex, Dr. Blatz and his team have likely treated it! They address a wide variety of joint and joint-related conditions, including osteoarthritis, tendon pathology, ligament disruptions, carpal tunnel syndrome, myofascial syndromes, and some nerve-related issues. Dr. Blatz also evaluates spine-related conditions exclusively for treatment with energy-based therapies.
Dr. Blatz will create an individualized plan for you, drawing on his extensive expertise in orthobiologics, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP), micro-fragmented adipose (MFAT), and bone marrow aspiration concentrate (BMAC). His practice also features cutting-edge energy-based technologies such as shockwave therapy (EPAT and ESWT) and electromagnetic therapy (EMTT). For tendon pathology, Tenex and TenJet are often integrated into treatment plans alongside orthobiologic therapies. Additionally, Dr. Blatz has performed numerous ultra-minimally invasive carpal tunnel release procedures using the Sonex technique.
The number of visits varies depending on your condition, treatment plan, and goals. Some patients see improvement after just a few visits, while others benefit from a series of therapies or a regenerative procedure followed by rehabilitation support.
At Maple Medical, every care plan is personalized. During your consultation, we’ll discuss recommendations based on your diagnosis, lifestyle, activity goals, and severity of symptoms.
For therapies like Shockwave (ESWT) and EMTT, a series of treatments is often recommended for optimal results. Generally, 4 to 6 sessions will be recommended. Regenerative procedures such as PRP or cell therapy may involve fewer visits but include follow-up evaluations and supportive care.
Recovery depends on the treatment performed and the area being treated.
Energy-based therapies like Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) and EMTT generally require little to no downtime, and many patients return to normal activities the same day.
For regenerative procedures such as PRP or cell therapy, mild soreness and temporary inflammation are expected and can be a normal part of the recovery process. Recovery timelines vary, but many patients notice gradual improvements in pain, mobility, strength, and overall function over time.
Our goal is to help patients move better, recover more confidently, and return to the activities that matter most to them.
No imaging is required before your consultation.
If you already have imaging (MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, or CT), we encourage you to bring it for review. However, many patients come to us without prior imaging.
Your consultation includes a comprehensive evaluation and diagnostic ultrasound when appropriate. This helps us better understand the source of pain or dysfunction and determine whether additional imaging may be helpful before treatment.
If advanced imaging is needed, we’ll guide you through the next steps.
Return-to-activity timelines vary depending on the condition treated and the type of therapy performed.
Many patients receiving Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) or EMTT can maintain modified activity during treatment.
After regenerative procedures such as PRP or cell therapy, there is typically a period of protected recovery followed by a gradual return to movement, exercise, and activity.
Physical therapy is an important part of our treatment philosophy and is recommended for every patient receiving care with us to help support recovery, improve function, and optimize outcomes.
Maple Medical is a self-pay practice.
Because many regenerative and advanced energy-based therapies are not typically covered by insurance, patients should expect most treatments to be out-of-pocket expenses.
That said, some office visits or covered services may qualify for patient self-submission for possible reimbursement depending on your plan. We are happy to discuss costs, treatment options, and expectations during your consultation so there are no surprises.
Your initial consultation is $350 and includes:
A 60-minute comprehensive evaluation
Diagnostic ultrasound (when appropriate)
Advanced imaging review (MRI, X-ray, CT, etc., if available)
A discussion of treatment recommendations and candidacy
A trial of Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) and/or EMTT when appropriate
Treatment costs vary depending on the condition being treated and your individualized care plan.
We believe in transparency and will review all treatment options and pricing with you before moving forward, so you can make an informed decision without pressure.
Results vary from person to person and depend on factors such as the severity of the condition, overall health, activity level, and adherence to the treatment plan.
Some patients experience improvements quickly, while others notice gradual changes over time.
Our goal is to help reduce pain, improve mobility and function, support recovery, and help patients get back to the activities they enjoy. While no treatment can guarantee results, we focus on individualized care and evidence-informed therapies designed to support the best possible outcomes for each patient.
Your safety comes first.
Not every patient is a good candidate for regenerative medicine or energy-based therapies, and we believe in being transparent when treatment may not be the right fit.
During your consultation, we carefully review your medical history, imaging, goals, and overall health to determine candidacy. If we do not believe a treatment is likely to benefit you—or if there are safety concerns—we will tell you.
When appropriate, we may recommend additional evaluation, physical therapy, lifestyle modifications, or other treatment pathways that may better support your goals.
Yes.
At Maple Medical, we frequently work with patients before and after surgery to help support recovery and improve function.
Energy-based therapies such as Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) and EMTT can be especially beneficial for post-surgical recovery by helping support circulation, tissue recovery, mobility, and comfort during rehabilitation.
We also work closely with physical therapy, which we view as an essential component of recovery. Whether you are recovering from orthopedic surgery or dealing with lingering pain or stiffness afterward, we will work to determine if our therapies may be appropriate for your situation.
Maple Medical is a concierge regenerative and energy medicine practice focused on personalized, high-quality care.
Unlike traditional clinics where visits may feel rushed, every new patient consultation includes a 60-minute one-on-one evaluation, imaging review, diagnostic ultrasound, and trial of energy-based therapies when appropriate.
Led by Brice W. Blatz, MD, Maple Medical combines advanced regenerative procedures such as PRP and cell therapy with cutting-edge energy-based technologies like Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) and EMTT.
We believe treatment should be individualized, evidence-informed, and focused on helping patients improve movement, recovery, and quality of life—not simply masking symptoms.
Physical therapy is also a key part of our philosophy and is recommended for every patient receiving treatment to help optimize recovery and long-term function.
